My name is Joyce or Joy for short. I was born in Norfolk, Virginia along with my two brothers. My father was born in Nansemond co. Suffolk, Va, but grew up in Norfolk. Most of my family on my dads side is from Virginia and North Carolina. My mom was born in San Diego, California. Her dad was in the Navy and at one time was stationed in Norfolk. That is how my parents met. My moms side of the family is from all kinds of places. Too many to name right now, but as this site unfolds you will soon see. We now live in Texas.

About the Family Roots
I am still trying to get information on my Acey's. I have hit a brick wall just as my grandmother did when she did her research. I did however find my gg grandparents James Acey and Mollie Jenkins Acey in the 1900 Southampton co, Va census and 1910 Nansemond co, Va census. The 1900 Census spelt the last name Acy. It says James Acey/Acy was born in North Carolina and so were his parents. Where at in NC? Can anyone out there help? James Acey was born about 1845-46. I'm guessing he moved his family from NC after Dec. 1892 but before Jan. 1895. My g grandfather Charles "Charlie" Acey was born in Southampton co, Va in Jan 1895, and both census says James Aceys other children were born in NC. James "Cleveland" Acey was born Nov 1885 and William Acey was born Dec 1892.
James Cleveland Acey went by Cleveland. He married Bettie L. Johnson. In the 1910 Nansemond co, Va census, it said he had two children. James E. 3 years old and William or Willie M. about 1 month old. Both born in VA. I found Cleveland and Bettie Acey again in the 1920 census living in Isle of Wight co VA, Windsor district on Franklin Road. This time it lists James- 13 yrs old, but William is gone. There are two more children. Cleveland- 7 yrs old and Rufus- 3 years old.
I would really like to know what ever happened to this part of my family. I never met any of them.
I do know my gg grandfather James Acey died in 1915 and is buried at Black Creek church along with my gg grandmother Mollie Jenkins Acey. She died in 1935.
This is all the information I have on the Acey family. I would appreciate any help or information anyone might have.
